Privacy policy

Short version: browsing needs no account. If you sign in with Google, Facebook or Apple to keep your saved tools across devices, we store only the name, email address and avatar that provider hands us — nothing else, and we never sell it.

What we store

  • Saved tools and ratings Tapping the star writes to your browser's localStorage first, then mirrors the choice to our database against a random browser id so the public “saved by” count is honest. Once you sign in, those rows are linked to your account so the same list appears on your other devices.
  • Form submissions When you submit a tool, we store the details you type so we can review the listing. We do not use them for marketing.
  • Account details If you create an account with an email address, we store that address and a salted scrypt hash of your password — never the password itself. If you sign in with a provider instead, see the next section.

Signing in with Google, Facebook or Apple

Signing in is optional. You can browse the directory, save tools and rate them without any account at all.

When you choose to sign in, the provider tells us your name, email address, profile picture and an account identifier. We store these next to your saved tools and ratings so they follow you between devices. We never receive your password for those services, and the permission we request does not include your mail, files, contacts or calendar.

  • The only scopes we ask Google for are openid, email and profile. We do not post, upload or read anything else on your behalf.
  • We do not use sign-in data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with third parties.
  • You can revoke our access at any time from your provider's permissions page. Deleting your account here removes the stored profile and unlinks everything attached to it.

What we do not collect

No behavioural advertising profiles built by us, no selling of personal data, and no account needed to read the site. Server logs may record standard technical information (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and reliability, as most websites do. Browsing data is never joined to your account.

Advertising and cookies

The site is funded by advertising. Ad networks — including Google, if AdSense is enabled — may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure and personalise ads. This site does not control those cookies.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

  • You can opt out of personalised Google advertising, including the DoubleClick cookie, in Google Ads Settings.
  • You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • Your browser's “Do Not Track” / private browsing modes and any cookie-blocking extension also limit ad tracking.
